YoungDale Farms offers training and conditioning for the equine athlete. Our facility is equipped to start young horses as well as condition horses for competition. Our conditioning program is primarily designed for Endurance race horses in order to take them to any level of competition - from a novice 25 mile ride to a gruelling FEI 100 mile ride.
We offer Training Board with 2 options available: Indoor and outdoor.
- Outdoor Board and Training: $650.00/mo.
- Indoor Board and Training: $750.00/mo.
The cost of board includes the following on top of a regular training schedule:
All horses kept outside have 24/7 access to water and shelter from bad weather.
Horses in training are taught from the ground up using resistance free training methods. They are given a solid foundation making them ready for any discipline.
Horses that remain in training at YoungDale enter our Endurance Training Program. Here they are conditioned and taught how to perform on trails, roads and around the farm. Because of the numerous variables inherent in long distance riding, horses must learn such things as how to conserve energy, drink and eat as needed to replenish lost nutrients, and mentally deal with unexpected obstacles on any given ride. Long distance riding exercises both the mind and body of a horse; and both need to be managed carefully to ensure peak performance and responsiveness.
It is recommended that horses being started under saddle complete a minimum of 3 months training in order for us to guarantee a solid riding foundation. After that the horse will be ready to move on to his chosen discipline; or to stay on and further his education.
For horses who need only the occasional "tune-up", training sessions can be provided at a cost of $55.00
We teach horses to be gentle, hard working, and bomb proof, following the principles of resistance free training. Thus we produce reliable, hard working horses.
